Welcome to the May Newsletter

On The Farm

It’s finally, truly spring here now. We’re a bit waterlogged, but glad for the warmer temperatures. One of my joys each spring is our grandmother magnolia tree. She and I spend time together daily in communion—I sing her song, and have my outdoor altar at her base. It’s good to have a tree as a friend.

With a little help from friends, we got the new raised beds in. I put one under a large maple tree for shade so I could grow kale that wouldn’t have direct sun. The herb garden will be expanded this year, and I want to put in a hummingbird garden by the tiny house, inspired by my travels to Peru. I look forward to getting my hands dirty.

As you have experiences in the garden and in nature or with your animals, feel free to post them on Shamanimal, a Facebook page that I created for students of both shamanic and animal communication classes. At this point, it is open to everyone who loves animals and believes in magical moments with them. It is for ‘feel good’ posts, so take a look at the shares, which will beautify your life.

May has been an interesting month for Heart to Heart. I was featured in the Crazy Wisdom E-zine. Because I’m on the cover, the event forced me to finally purchase professional photos—you’ll see me with Charlie on the cover. The article photo where I’m holding a guinea pig was taken in Peru by my 7-year old goddaughter, Urpi. She had my ipad and was doing progressively closer photos—the last in the series was a closeup of the guinea pig’s nose! Check it out here.

On Memorial Day, we remember our beloved animals who have passed and are grateful for their service while they were alive, as well as the impact they all had on our lives. May your time remembering your own special companions be filled with much love and gratitude.

Travel Altars

Before Covid, I traveled quite a bit for work, to teach, and to explore. I’m getting back into the groove now, and wanted to share a little something that has helped me to ground wherever I am. A little travel altar that you can make for yourself in a day.

MATERIALS LIST:

Altoid tin or container that can travel easily

small can of spray paint (Rustoleum or auto scratch repair paint)

glue

small items that represent your values, your passions, your guiding

spirits, and your practices

stick-on lettering or decorations

a small bag to hold everything

a tiny candle and holder

a small shell

a tiny bag of incense or smudge

Scholarship Fund

A big thank you to those who volunteered to be my practice subjects for curse unraveling and compassionate depossession. The list was filled within three days of the newsletter coming out! There will be other opportunities that I will list as they become available.

We will be adding $300 to the fund—THANK YOU! The money goes a long way to help financially support students who cannot afford full tuition to take classes that focus on animal communication, shamanic studies or both. Not only do we train people to help the animal/human relationships, but we also work with shelter, foster and traumatized animals in class.

You can make your donation to the fund on the website home page. If you have already taken a class and enjoyed the experience, please consider paying it forward by making a donation.

In addition, if you have an animal that has been traumatized, perhaps a shelter animal you just adopted, you can submit a photo with name, age, sex and just a little bit about their behavior or condition to me at info@judyramsey.net. I will post the animal’s case in class or on our Facebook group and send you what the students have done with their work.

Thank you for supporting the cause.

If You Do Shamanic Journeying….

Think about joining us for Journey Circle on the first and third Thursdays of each month. For awhile now, we have been exploring THE BOOK OF SORROWS while the world was wrapping its head around the pandemic and other disasters, natural and manmade. For the next several months, we will be exploring TRANSITION and the critical aspects of ourselves that need to be balanced to experience a transition with grace and ease. In the process, we will be receiving tools and gifts that will help us to navigate the transitions of our lives.

I will be teaching a basic journeying class in July (see the Upcoming Classes below) or you can contact me for personal instruction. It’s an easy process that most people can pick up on in about 3 hours of guided practice. The possibilities are endless and the work is so rewarding. Think of it as active meditation.

If you already know how to journey, just let me know of your interest and I will catch you up and help you into the journey circle, answering any questions or concerns you may have about participating in group journeying. One person’s journey is everyone’s journey. We learn so much about ourselves and our life paths each circle.

The Bookshelf

Some time ago, I purchased a poster from Vorja Sánchez, called ‘The Color Collector’, a whimsical combination of sketch and photography that looks like a cloud person moving over a beautiful autumn forest. Vorja Sánchez is an imaginative artist with a lot of soul in his work. When his book, Hogar Invisible/Invisible Home, was ready, I purchased a copy online that was delivered last month. What a treasure! This beautiful gem was done in both Spanish and English with his partner, Nina da Lua, a poet and artist in her own right.

The book comes handwrapped in special paper, with a ribbon that holds a small bouquet of dried flowers. A handwritten note thanks you for the purchase. An introduction on the box invites you to read the book intuitively, going however and wherever you are led into it.

Each page is illustrated with Sánchez’s quirky art that goes straight to your curiosity. The text is amazing—it reaches right into your heart. You can actually feel it’s energy.

I’m savoring each page like a good piece of chocolate. Enjoy!
